3. What are your thoughts on owner Arte Moreno?

(Rice): I think he has done some great things for the organization, but him trying to change the name of the team is out of line. He has shown that he will spend money for players aside from this season. Maybe he learned his lesson with Josh Hamilton.

(Lea): I think Moreno has done a great job of marketing this team, which is also his background. However, he changed the name of the city the team plays in to do it. He’s a smart guy. However, he has over spent on bad players, traded away good players for bad pieces, and he has continuously disappointed the fans of the LA Angels and the city of Anaheim. I firmly believe that Moreno should sell the team and find another city to divide over its team name. Bye Felicia.

(Ludwig): I have no opinion one way or the other on Arte. I hate that he changed the name of the team from the Anaheim Angels to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but he won back a little bit of my trust as he showed that he was willing to open up his wallet and sign guys like Vladimir Guerrero. His refusal to go over the luxury tax threshold this off-season was baffling, considering that it would only be for this season with Jered Weaver and C.J. Wilson coming off the books. Left field was such an obvious, gaping hole that could easily have been filled by Yoenis Cespedes or Dexter Fowler. I like that he’s willing to spend his money to help this team win (usually), but he didn’t this off-season and it’s contributed to the team’s lack of success.

(Avise): I don’t like Arte Moreno at all. I truly believe that this franchise will not be able to get back to what it once was until he is gone. He is like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, in the sense that he is just too involved. Moreno doesn’t know how to run a baseball team and he doesn’t let the people he hired to run it, do it either. He took over a franchise with one of the games best farm systems in baseball and now they are a laughing stock. Moreno needs to cut his losses and sell the team. He has insisted to over pay free agents like Pujols and Hamilton and the LA Angels have nothing to show for it. The sooner he leaves Anaheim the better.

(Quesada): Arte Moreno is responsible for some of the most bone-headed moves in recent baseball memory. I can never forgive him for adding “Los Angeles” to the team name, and approving the Pujols 10-year, $240 million contract is the reason the team can’t afford to sign anyone else. Moreno wastes money consistently (look at Josh Hamilton’s contract) and that lack of financial understanding is the biggest reason the Halos are no longer a competitive group. He is the reason Jerry Dipoto walked away and that’s hurt his relationship with his players and staff alike. On the bright side, he seems to be giving Billy Eppler a shot to shine and Eppler has pulled off some great moves this season, they just haven’t panned out because of injuries.

(Arvizu): Moreno is trying too hard to be apart of the franchise. Yes he has the biggest say but he also pushed for a signing of Albert Pujols, which according to bleacher report is the 3rd worst in MLB history. The Josh Hamilton scandal worked really bad for the Angels. Overall I think he needs to loosen the reigns and let the managers play baseball.
