With the rumors of Yunel Escobar being shopped, the Angels are clearly trying to make room for Jefry Marte. Escobar is currently sideline with a tweaked knee, but that doesn’t mean he’s not getting ready to move. Escobar is on a 1-year $7 million deal, which gives the LA Angels a chance to grab a game-changing player.

If you’re going to move Marte to 3rd, then you open the door to sign a DH like Pedro Alvarez from Baltimore. Currently Alvarez has a BA of .236 and an OBP of .315, he’s currently making $5 million on the year.

Again, you get a decent player who can contribute without over-spending. The LA Angels need youth with experience. Alvarez is 29, giving the LA Angels a fresh look at the DH position. He’s also  has been known to play third base in his career. So, if you wanted to move Marte to left field you would have a valuable option at third.
