5. Jhoulys Chacin

I never was a fan of this deal. Jhoulys Chacin is not the ace-in-the-hole the LA Angels needed in order to make up for the injury situation. What’s problematic with any deal for Chacin is the LA Angels literally just acquired him in May.

Chacin is set to make just over $1 million this season, and there’s not a huge calling for him. I wouldn’t expected teams to be knocking down the door for most of the Angels roster.

Chacin won’t bring in a starting pitcher, he’ll likely be used as bait with another player to lure in a power hitter like Ryan Braun. However, with Nick Tropeano and Joe Smith just days away from return to the Angels Chacin is expendable.

While these trades could help the LA Angels at least sniff the post-season, the other teams have to agree to the terms. Some of these deal are unlikely to happen; however, the LA Angels have pieces that could bring in some big name players.
