LA Angels Mid Season Report Card: Relief pitchers

This LA Angels report card will definitely be graded using a curve, the fact of the matter is that some of the starting pitchers should be relief pitchers, and some of the relief pitchers should be optioned to Triple-A.
The LA Angels have had a significant blow struck deep into the pitching rotation. While Mike Scioscia has done what he can to salvage the rotation and the season, the LA Angels can’t seem to rely on the relief pitchers to get the win.
The revolving door of pitchers that have hit the DL has been the highlight of the season thus far. Currently, the LA Angels have announced that C.J. Wilson will not pitch this season, Andrew Heaney and Garrett Richards are also on the DL for an extended stay.
As far as relief pitchers go, Cory Rasmus isn’t scheduled to return to the Angels until September and likely will not pitch the rest of the season. We’ve also seen Joe Smith on the DL and Huston Street is currently day-to-day with a hamstring injury.
Tyler Skaggs is also rehabbing in Triple-A with no timetable for his return to the Angels. At one point during the season the LA Angels had more players on the DL than any other team in the league.
These injuries contribute to a few things: The Angels are dead last in the AL West, the fans at Big A have actually booed the LA Angels this season, and the fans have growing discontent with Arte Moreno and GM Billy Eppler.
Nevertheless I’ll be grading the relief pitchers for the LA Angels as apart of our Mid Season Report Card:
