#10 – 12/29/14 = Pitcher Brian Broderick to KC for 2B Johnny Giavotella

This trade has looked good ever since the Angels made Johnny Giavotella their starting second baseman.  While Giavotella may never be an All-Star he has provided stability at second base ever since Howie Kendrick was traded.  Giavotella has been somewhat of a sparkplug and an emotional leader on the club who seems to have a knack for getting clutch hits.  While his numbers aren’t spectacular they have been good enough.

In a season and a half Giavotella has batted .268 with 10 homers and 76 RBI’s.  with a .980 fielding percentage.  So what has Brian Broderick done for KC.  Last year he pitched fairly well in Double and Triple-A for the Royals, but he is no longer in their system and is not pitching for any MLB organization so I would call this trade a win for the Angels.
