Los Angeles Angels: The Free Agents Heading Out Of 2016

The Los Angeles Angels have made some progress in trying to right their ship in the majors. Addressing the many needs of 2017 will be key for the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels are primed to make a big turn around for 2017. Of course, this will depend on if Arte Moreno and GM Billy Eppler can spend wisely and bring in the right player. The disappointing year that the Angels had in 2016 could be later viewed as a distant memory.

Consider this offseason like a game of chess. First, you set up your pieces and when the proper moment presents itself, you strike. These practices are how free agency must be handled. This offseason, the Angels have multiple free agents and multiple players eligible for arbitration.

The free agents for the Angels are as follows: Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Geovany Soto, Tim Lincecum, Jhoulys Chacin, Andrew Bailey, and Yunel Escobar.

Let’s assume the Angels do not resign Weaver or Wilson. Although, because Weaver is still productive, he is more likely to be resigned to a smaller contract than Wilson.

Both Weaver and Wilson made $20 million this past season. Some would consider that way more than both players are worth, especially with their health being as questionable as it is.
