Los Angeles Angels Expect Garrett Richards To Light Up 2017
The Los Angeles Angels have been battling the injury bug since early May. Now, it looks like there is some hope that we will have one of our ace pitchers ready for 2017.
The Los Angeles Angels expect Garrett Richards to be fully healthy and ready to begin spring training like normal rather than have Tommy John surgery. Richards opted for a stem cell injection and a strong rehab to make it back on the mound. Throwing in the instructional league, most recently, Richards threw 55 pitches with no discomfort.
Consider this an official announcement of what has only been speculation until this point. Richards can lead the attack on the mound in 2017. The rest of the rotation will be decided in the coming months. The Angels will also have money to extend to free agent pitchers that could fill the gaps while strengthening the bullpen.
The news of Richards official return to the Angels and the expectation to begin 2017 is comforting. There’s a glimmer of hope now. Last season, Richards was on pace early for a Cy Young award. In six appearances, Richards had three wins and two losses with an ERA of 3.24.

This coming season Richards will likely find himself as the number one of the rotation yet again. The 2016 Opening Day starter will be able to dazzle and light up the Halo once again. Ricky Nolasco will add much-needed help to the rotation as well, as he displayed amazing pitching late last season.
Tyler Skaggs will also be a B-12 shot for this Angels team next season. The final two roster spots will be a toss up between Matt Shoemaker, Alex Meyer, Jhoulys Chacin, and any possible free agent the Angels may sign.
