No. 2 LA Angel who survived the trade deadline but won’t be on 2022 roster: Steve Cishek

Steve Cishek has had an up-and-down season for the LA Angels this year.

Cishek has appeared in the most amount of games as a pitcher in the entire MLB. He’s been a guy who’s been able to eat some innings from that standpoint.

At the same time, however, he has a 3.64 ERA and a 1.574 WHIP. He was a good trade piece because he hasn’t been performing to his best abilities these past couple years, but has been in this league long enough and has enough good performance in his career that somebody would definitely be interested in him.

His performance really shouldn’t warrant the Angels to be interested in keeping him, so they maybe should have dealt him at the deadline so that they could get something for him before he ends up taking off for nothing in return in the 2022 free agency period.

Cishek has been much better than last season, so his pandemic season performance proved to be a little fluky. That being said, I don’t think he’s been enough for the journeyman to stick around.
