No. 3 encouraging sign from the LA Angels vs. NY Yankees series: Character-building

Wins like the one the LA Angels had on Wednesday are more than just a W for the win-loss column.

They build character.

To have the best pitcher on the team in Ohtani give up seven runs in just 0.2 innings and have to be booted off the mound is typically crushing. The Angels proved that they aren’t weak-minded, and bounced right back from that.

They stayed in the game for as long as they could, and down four in the ninth, loaded the bases for one of their best players to come through and deliver in the clutch.

They then kept pouring it on the Yankees, taking advantage of the momentum they gained to score three more runs and win the ballgame in nine innings.

When teammates pick each other up, character is built. When Trout went down, Ohtani picked his teammates up. So when he struggled, his teammates returned the favor.

This just goes to show that the Angels are still in the fight. We’re not done yet, and are heading into this Baltimore series with a lot of confidence.
