As the LA Angels continue to deal with injuries, specifically to pitchers, they have swapped Triple A pitchers with the Baltimore Orioles.

The LA Angels have sent right hander Jordan Kipper to Baltimore in exchange for fellow righty Damien Magnifico. Both pitchers were immediately sent to their new clubs’ respective Triple A team.

Kipper wasn’t an Angels top prospect, but he was someone I just mentioned as the Worth Watching entry in last week’s Top Prospects Hot or Not piece. He had pitched well for Double A Mobile, but now finds himself headed east to Baltimore.

Magnifico has bounced around some recently. In the last month he has gone from the Brewers to the Orioles, and now to the Angels. The righty has had overall success since switching to a relief role in the minors for the 2015 season. He also brings with him experience as a closer. However, the success has not yet translated to the big leagues.

In a brief call-up to the Brewers last season he struggled. It was a small sample size, but it came with a 2016 season that saw his ERA jump from sub-2.00 to just over 4.00.

Only time will tell what the move holds for either pitcher. However, with the Angels pitching staff hit the way that it has been with injuries, Magnifico seems bound for Anaheim at some point in 2017.
