Logan Morrison on radar for the LA Angels
The LA Angels had a rough season finding production from first base. Now it seems Billy Eppler has his eyes on an immediate upgrade with free agent Logan Morrison.
LA Angels are reportedly looking to shore up the offense with eyes on free agent Logan Morrison. The tandem of C.J Cron and Luis Valbuena averaged an OBP of .300 together while slugging only 25 home runs. With Logan Morrison seeing one of his best seasons yet the Angels seem to be considering the ex-Tampa Bay Ray.

Morrison has plenty to offer the Angels; power, consistency, and very importantly a left-handed presence in the lineup. In 149 games with the Rays, Morrison clubbed 38 home runs while collecting 81 walks throughout the 2017 season. His bat would offer an immediate upgrade in both power and consistency at the plate.
This news brings the question of Cron and Valbuena’s
status heading into the 2018 season. Either may become expendable should the Angels pull the trigger on the 30-year-old free agent. C.J Cron showed man
y flashes of power throughout the season despite what his very modest .248/.305/.437 slash line would suggest.
C.J was a valuable player in the clutch, hitting .262/.330/.512 with RISP with 6 HR’s and 39 RBI’s in 84 AB’s. This brings into play the question of Cron’s future with the Halos given his youth and top of the mark potential.
All in all it seems like a match made in heaven for the Halos. Although Morrison may be 30 years of age he won’t command a shackling contract, given the presence of C.J Cron they may not need to look to Morrison as a long-term piece.

Billy Eppler has already stated his priorities being with offensive upgrades, and with the news of Morrison being on the Angels radar one has to wonder if it’s only a matter of time.
