Albert Pujols recently joined the 3,000 hit club after joining the 600 home run club last season.  Since joint these two elite groups Pujols has continued to move up the ladder on both of them.

Albert Pujols had another good game on Tuesday night in Detroit going 3-for-5 with a run scored.  The three hits helped Pujols tie Rafael Palmeiro for 28th place on the all-time hit list with 3,020 hits.  Lou Brock will be the next person for Pujols to catch and he is only three hits away from tying Brock.

Pujols is now only 35 hits away from moving into the top 25 on the all-time hits list.  Realistically Pujols could move into the top 20 before the season is over.  With only 96 more hits Pujols will pass Alex Rodriguez (3,115) and move into 20th place.

On the home run list Pujols is now in 7th place and is only 10 homers away from passing Ken Griffey Jr.  After Griffey Jr., Pujols will have a little ways to go before passing another home run great which would be Willie Mays at 660 homers in 5th place.

The Angels are hoping that Pujols continues to climb on both lists while also helping the Angels reach the playoffs at seasons end.  Pujols’ numbers are not stellar and probably not what you would want from your clean-up hitter. Pujols is batting .256 with seven homers and 27 runs batted in.

Pujols has always said that individual accomplishments are not important to him, but winning and helping his team do so are what he strives to do.  The question will be how long will Angel manager Mike Scioscia leave Pujols in the clean-up role.  On days when Shohei Ohtani is in the line-up with him getting a day off Ohtani has filled the clean-up spot.

Next: Jared Walsh up and coming prospect

Hopefully for the Angels Pujols will bump up his numbers in the upcoming months and give the Angels so much needed offense.  We will see how it goes.
