The FanSided MLB Division started doing a GM Simulation last off-season. The Halo Hangout staff was very active as was the real Angels GM Billy Eppler.  We did make a couple of deals that Eppler made too.

Last season in the FanSided Mock GM Simulation our Halo Hangout staff signed Zack Cozart to fill the void at third base as well as re-signing Justin Upton.  We made a deal for Cesar Hernandez, but in the deal we gave up Jo Adell as he was figured to be expendable with all the Angels outfield prospects. Thankfully that deal never happened, although it would have been nice to have Hernandez instead of Ian Kinsler, but not at the expense of giving up Adell.

This year we will be careful not to give up any major prospects unless the deal is too good to pass up.  This is a philosophy that Billy Eppler has seemed to follow with the exception of giving up Sean Newcomb to the Braves for Andrelton Simmons.  That deal though has been good for both teams as Newcomb is slowly becoming an ace of the Braves staff and Andrelton Simmons has become a Gold Glove shortstop the past two seasons.

More from Halo Hangout

The Angels most pressing needs are improving the starting rotation and bullpen. Secondary concerns are the catching spot and possibly either a second or third baseman.  With Zack Cozart under contract and coming off a shoulder injury he will most likely fill the third base spot, but could move to second base if the Angels sign a guy like Mike Moustakas.

Moustakas was said to be an Angel target last season before they signed Cozart, but they could have their cake and eat it too this off-season if they sign him.  However the Angels have bigger fish to fry this off-season.

Wilson Ramos is a must sign for the Angesl. Next

So we will do our best as mock GM’s I wish it was as easy as it seemed to be last season to make deals.  We will have fun with it and keep you abreast with the developments.  Please let us know if you have some suggestions for deals and free agent signings.  Enjoy our simulation.
