Let’s just say the LA Angels knew what they were doing when they signed Mike Trout to the richest contract in baseball history this Spring.
All Mike Trout has done is continue to improve his game even more and the Angels are the beneficiaries of this. While $430 million dollars over 12 years is a ton of money, Mike Trout is proving to be worth it and then some.
Wednesday evening in Toronto Trout again showed why the Angels pay him the big bucks. Trout has hit two monster homer runs to left and center field one of which was a grand slam and he has driven in seven runs which is surprisingly a career-high for Trout.
So far this season Trout in 70 games has hit 22 homers, driven in 56 runs and is batting .297. He leads the AL with 65 walks and has a .465 OBP and an OPS of 1.118. It seems that no matter what opposing pitchers try to do to get Trout out he seems to counter them.

The first home run Trout hit on Wednesday was on a fastball that was high and a little inside which supposedly a cold zone for Trout, but not on this night as Trout tattooed a 3-2 pitch from Aaron Sanchez and hit it into the second deck at Rogers Centre for a two-run 420 foot home run to give the Angels a 3-0 lead.
In his next at-bat Trout took an 0-1 pitch by Sanchez and hit it off the second deck in left-center field for a grand slam and a 7-3 Angels lead. The icing on the cake was an RBI-single on the 9th just for kicks to put the Angels up 11-6 which would be the final margin of victory for the Halos. Who now find themselves one game over .500 thanks in large part to Trout.
Just watching the two homers fly out of the park it made me think how great it is knowing that we will be watching Mike Trout do these kind of things for many years to come.
Look at the stats that @MLBStats is spitting out about Trout
There is no doubt that Mike Trout is the best player of the past decade, but in the 40+ years I have watched baseball I can honestly say I have never seen a player as good as Mile Trout. He does everything well and can beat you in so many ways besides just hitting home runs.
Is he the greatest player of all-time would not be fair for me to judge as their have been many great players in baseball history long before I was born. However, I can say without much doubt that he is the best player ever to put on an Angel uniform.
For now I just sit back and enjoy Mike Trout doing Mike Trout things.
