Max Kepler
The Athletic predicts that Kepler and Conforto should both receive a 1 year, $10 million deal on the open market. Kepler's 2024 hitting metrics were much worse than Conforto's, but his defense was far better. Kepler's body-of-work over the course of his career surpasses Conforto's as well. Kepler's career bWAR is 20.7, while Conforto's is 17.6 (mostly due to Kepler's superior defense).
The long-tenured Twin will definitely depart, as their ownership change will mean cutting costs on the field. The German native's on-field results were far worse than usual, potentially due to ongoing issues with his knee and hip. In 2023, Kepler posted the highest average exit velocity of his career. Last year, he posted the second lowest. Kepler is looking to prove that his pop did not just go away, and the Angels should seriously consider allowing Kepler to retrieve his power at the Big A.
