The LA Angels have a poor farm system; we know this.

Heck, on August 25th of last year it was ranked 24th in baseball.

Since, however, it's arguably reached a bit of a new low. Baseball America just listed their 2022 Top 100 Prospects list, and there is just ONE Angel on the list.

Reid Detmers is the only LA Angels prospect on the Baseball America 2022 Top 100 Prospects list.

The LA Angels' only prospect on the list, Reid Detmers, ranks 28th on the list. It's for good reason, as Detmers has loads of potential and may even come up this year for good. It is, however, disappointing not to see anyone else here.

Many may have expected Sam Bachman, the Angels' 2021 first-round draft pick to have been there, and he was snubbed. What this list means, however, is that Detmers has a chance to be a full-time member of the Halos' starting rotation.

Currently, the Angels' rotation would consist of:

1. Shohei Ohtani

2. Noah Syndergaard

3. Patrick Sandoval

4. Jose Suarez

5. Michael Lorenzen

6. ???

As of right now, competing for that sixth spot will likely be Griffin Canning, Janson Junk, Packy Naughton, Jaime Barria, and Reid Detmers. Detmers is inarguably more talented than any of the others, and this list may have proven that he is indeed the best option for the club.

And Detmers did get a chance to come up last year, and the former tenth overall pick started five games. He didn't look great, but passed the eye test in many important areas. Detmers impresses scouts with a great fastball (mid-90s) and also has a great curveball.

That curveball's typically about 20 mph slower than his fastball, and he's got good control in general on the mound. He's been developing a slider that's coming along, having been working on it ever since he started at Louisville.

Detmers is a lot to be excited about within a farm that doesn't offer much else.
