No. 1 starting pitcher in dream LA Angels Opening Day starting rotation: Chris Bassitt
Chris Bassitt on the LA Angels would be a match made in heaven. Not only would it prove that the Oakland Athletics are holding a fire sale, but the Angels would be both acquiring a great pitcher AND robbing the Athletics as well.
Bassitt has had a remarkable two-year run now, posting a 2.90 ERA in his last two years and recording a 142 ERA+. He was rewarded with an All-Star selection this past season after he was robbed of the honor in 2020 due to the pandemic not allowing a 2020 All-Star Game.
According to Bowden, the Angels "have had conversations with Oakland about Chris Bassitt."
So, they're already working on him, and that's a great sign. While it's not 100% clear that the A's are going to host a fire sale, due to them not having traded anybody yet, it's still likely. I mean, the lockout hasn't allowed them much time to make trades thus far in the offseason.
If this is how the Angels starting rotation shapes up, we'll be right in the thick of AL pennant contention. This is four potential Aces on one team. Couple that with what's already going to be one of the best lineups in baseball and we'll have a SQUAD this season.
