Ex-LA Angel, former MLB All-Star named possible drug source for Tyler Skaggs
The Tyler Skaggs court situation continues, and a rather surprising turn of events has taken place around the unfortunate early passing of the former LA Angels pitcher.
Eric Kay, former Angels communications director, is being accused of supplying Skaggs with the drugs that resulted in him unfortunately passing away. Kay has now switched that focus to former Angel Matt Harvey, saying that he was the one who supplied Skaggs with the drugs.
This is either true, or an effort for Kay to get out of these accusations.
Eric Kay will fight this regardless of if he is right about Matt Harvey in the trial surrounding Tyler Skaggs' death.
Even if what Eric Kay is saying about Matt Harvey is false, he is expected to claim that there is no proof that the drugs Kay is said to have given Tyler Skaggs is the reason he died. This is because Skaggs didn't overdose, but suffocated on his vomit. While he did have oxycodone and fentanyl in his system, they also found grain alcohol in his system.
Therefore, there's a chance Kay could get out of this either way. Other players are possible witnesses in this trial process, and Andrew Heaney was a witness at the trial on Tuesday. He spoke about multiple topics, including details around who had access to the players on the team and road trip procedures. Heaney said that he did not know Skaggs was an opioid user.
The trial will continue. It's safe to say that regardless of who is responsible, none of these issues should have ever happened. Our thoughts are with the Skaggs family as they navigate a difficult time.
