The LA Angels are out of baseball right now during this MLB lockout, and we have no idea when the league will resume.
The offseason is by no means over, and we still have the best part of the offseason hopefully coming our way: Spring Training. I know I'm going to get out to some games, and maybe I'll see some of you out here in Arizona if you guys get the chance.
There are a few important dates surrounding Spring Training and the rest of the offseason for the Halos.
3 most important dates for the LA Angels offseason after the MLB Lockout:
First off, the LA Angels and all other teams better hope these CBA negotiations come to an end by the start of February, because that's when the real player preparation for the 2022 season starts:
First important date for LA Angels offseason after MLB Lockout: February 14th
It may not happen exactly on February 14th, but LA Angels pitchers and catchers, as well as pitchers and catchers on every team, will report on the week of February 14th.
This period is going to be as crucial as it gets for the Angels, as they're likely going to be bringing up many of their younger Minor League pitchers who they gave work to last year, and look to have a role on the staff this year.
They also will need to work with pitchers coming off of injuries very closely, such as Noah Syndergaard and Patrick Sandoval. They'll need to be ready, because the real action begins just a couple of weeks later.
Second important date for LA Angels offseason after MLB Lockout: February 26th
On February 26th, the LA Angels have their first spring training game. It will be a road matchup at American Family Fields of Phoenix against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Halos will of course be likely to play many young, non-starting players in this game, as it's to obviously be very early in the spring.
Third important date for LA Angels offseason after MLB Lockout: March 27th
The LA Angels will begin their annual exhibition Freeway Series on March 27th. The first game will be at Angel Stadium, and the next two will be at Dodger Stadium. It will be the last taste of 'preseason' baseball they'll get before Opening Day on March 31st.
If this lockout can hurry up and end, the Halos will get a normal Spring Training schedule like this. The issue is just that, however, as there is lots and lots of uncertainty surrounding the lockout right now.
