LA Angels release hilarious promotion for Shohei Ohtani at Angel Stadium
If there's any baseball player in the world who has "The Force," it would be the LA Angels two-way superstar, Shohei Ohtani.
The 2021 AL Most Valuable Player was just that, and had what is being considered as the best season in MLB history. Hitting .257/.372/.592 (.965 OPS) with 26 stolen bases, 46 home runs, 100 RBI, and 103 R at the plate, he was masterful offensively. Couple that with his 9-2 record on the mound in 23 starts that yielded a 3.18 ERA and 141 ERA+, and calling this year the best season for a player in history makes sense.
The Angels are responding by holding five promotional giveaways at Angel Stadium for Ohtani, and one of them acknowledges that "The Force" may really indeed be with ShoTime:
LA Angels fans will love this, just as they love everything about Shohei Ohtani.
The LA Angels' promotional team has officially given Shohei Ohtani a new nickname: Ohtani-Wan-Kenobi.
While I like 'ShoTime,' or 'The Sho' better, the Star Wars diehards will be going nuts for this one.
The bobblehead is going to be given away to the first 25,000 fans on Star Wars Day against the Toronto Blue Jays, which will be May 27th. There are going to be three Ohtani bobblehead nights in total, with one of those being for this Ohtani-Wan Kenobi one.
The Angels had options for this nickname, as Zach Buchanan of The Athletic hilariously pointed out:
All I can say is that the Blue Jays better expect Angels fans to be loud on the day of this game. It's going to be a packed house:
And we all know Shohei can light it up on any given night. Who knows? Maybe Ohtani will prove once again that The Force is with him.
Nothing Ohtani can do will surprise anyone. He's already shown that his game shouldn't be legal. He's truly different from the rest.
