No. 4 LA Angels free agent target after MLB lockout: Kenley Jansen

Kenley Jansen is another great reliever who the LA Angels need to go out and bring in. They need to take advantage of a pitcher this good still on the market.

Jansen steps into free agency this year coming off of a great year. He posted a 2.22 ERA and had 38 saves. That's tied for the second-most saves in baseball.

He's still a strikeout machine, fanning 11.2 batters per nine frames. He had the highest ERA+ he's had since 2017 (185) and had the best WHIP of his career since another one of his All-Star years in 2018 (1.043).

The Angels need bullpen help almost as much as they need help in the rotation. The Angels' bullpen had the seventh-worst ERA in the Majors last season (4.59). We re-signed Raisel Iglesias, so we already have an elite closer.

We can still use Jansen in a set-up role, however, and have Aaron Loup pitch a little earlier in ballgames.

We certainly can fit Jansen into this bullpen, even with him being traditionally a closer. He's pitched in multiple different roles before. He can do the same here.
