No. 3 LA Angels free agent target after MLB lockout: Clayton Kershaw

Clayton Kershaw can still pitch at a high level, and I hope the LA Angels understand that. That's because the Angels are about as desperate as it gets for starting pitching.

Most top free agent starters have already signed elsewhere, and the options aren't very plentiful at this time.

Kershaw, however, would be one of our top three starters if he signed with the team this offseason. Kershaw still has recorded a 3.10 ERA these past two years to go along with a 3.10 FIP. He still has it.

He may have ended up battling injury issues towards the end of the year, but he's not expected to be unavailable when next season starts. In that case, teams in need of starting pitching should absolutely be looking into a pitcher who's recorded a 135 ERA+ from 2020 to 2021.

He's only walked 1.5 batters per nine in that span and struck out 10.3 per nine. That's a 7.10 K/9 rate. Give me a break; the guy can still pitch.

The Halos need to be aggressive. They've missed the playoffs for seven straight seasons due to poor starting pitching. Be aggressive and flip the script.
