The LA Angels couldn’t be happier that the month of June is finally behind them. They’ve had multiple losing streaks and can’t find away to win multiple games. Last night, they were swept by the Houston Astros again as things continue to get worse.

The LA Angels are in trouble, this season is being called the worst season in the Arte Moreno era. The LA Angels are on pace to lose 50 or more games before the All-Star break. The LA Angels just can’t/aren’t able to compete with teams.

Recapping the month of June: The LA Angels won a series against the Pittsburgh Pirates three games to two. Following that series, the LA Angels were swept four straight games by the New York Yankees. Then, Cleveland bested the LA Angels two games to one.

That brings us to June 11th, The LA Angels won just their second series of the month against Minnesota two games to one. Then, Tim Lincecum and Jered Weaver saved us from losing the series to the Oakland Athletics.

After back-to-back wins versus Oakland, things turned way south for the LA Angels. The LA Angels would be swept by the Houston Astros and they would lose three of four against the Oakland athletics. Then, they would be swept again by the Houston Astros.

That brings us to July, were the LA Angels will look to bounce back and get the ball rolling towards some wins. We’ve already talked about trades, firing Mike Scioscia, and even moving Jered Weaver to the bullpen: But nothing has been done. The LA Angels haven’t tried to make any adjustments.

Bringing in Lincecum was a great move; however, perhaps doing something more would help generate some wins. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results and the Angels are insane. The LA Angels need to try and do something, even if it’s moving Jhoulys Chacin to the bullpen and optioning Fernando Salas to Triple-A.

What’s even more enraging is the fact that the LA Angels are wasting Mike Trout‘s prime. Mike Trout shouldn’t be on a team that’s lost 49 games before July. It’s cruel to have a star of his magnitude and not build a team around him because you over paid for an aging Pujols and a drug induced Josh Hamilton.

As the season continues the only question is: Will the LA Angels get better or will they look to sell away some players? They must trade away some players in order to retool for next season. Huston Street is on a two-year $18 million deal, Joe Smith is on a three-year $15 million deal, and Andrelton Simmons just started a seven-year $58 million deal.

Next: Angels might have good news

The fact of the matter is the LA Angels are not completely out of the realm of making a post-season run. It’s not looking good by any means; however, in order to make the wild card the LA Angels must do something different than what they’ve done for the month of June.
