3 Angels' players pushing toward a September call-up

The Los Angeles Angels are at the point in the season where the future should be at the forefront. Thoughts about the playoffs ended months ago, and it's time for the front office to figure out who is a valuable piece heading into next season.

That's where expanded rosters come in handy. While it isn't what it used to be — when the entire 40-man was allowed to come up for the entire month — every team gets an extra hitter and an extra pitcher during the final month of the season. Here are three Angels' players pushing to get their chance in September.

3 Angels' players making a late push for September call-ups

Kyren Paris, Angels infielder

Kyren Paris has had short stints with the Angels in each of the last three seasons; the longest spanning 44 games in 2025. The former second-round pick hasn't been able to stick in the majors, but he might be ready this season.

Paris' full-season minor league numbers are the best of his career, and he's hit well during the month of August. Through 17 games, he has a .286 batting average and a .910 OPS. He's smacked five home runs and driven in 17. Paris might finally be ready to stick if he gets another shot at the majors.

Sam Aldegheri, Angels pitcher

Sam Aldegheri got a shot in the majors earlier this season, and while it started well, it ended poorly, and he was optioned back to the minors on July 4. It took a few minor-league appearances for Aldegheri to find his form, but over his last four outings he has a 3.12 ERA and is holding opponents to an OPS under .500.

That's extremely impressive in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Sometimes young pitchers need a reset in the minors, and it seems like Aldegheri received that and is ready to come back.

Nelson Rada, Angels outfielder

September is a time when top prospects will get their first cup of coffee in the majors. Nelson Rada might be the perfect example of that. Currently MLB Pipeline's No. 6 prospect among the Angels' top 30, the light-hitting outfielder has spent the entire 2026 season at Triple-A and is hitting .282 with a .380 on-base percentage.

Light-hitting might be an understatement; the 5-foot-9' Rada only has three home runs all season. He makes up for it, though, with great fielding and speed. Rada has 34 stolen bases this season and had 54 last year. He's shown he can handle Triple-A, and now it's time to give him a chance against Major League pitching.
